The David Honl: Light DVD is an entertaining introduction to Honl’s small, quick, and nimble lighting setups. Leave a Comment more...Photo competition for editorial images – three vario-photographers take part

Alex Kraus, Knut Müller and Ulrich Baumgarten
November 25, 2009. Three photographers from vario images take part at this year’s “Rueckblende”-photo competition. “Rueckblende” is a well-known photo and caricature competition for political and social life in Germany.

The vario-photographers in particular:
Alex Kraus – editorial photography from a special point of view Originally Alex Kraus was born in Bavaria. He studied constructional engineering and social work, before he started to work as a freelance-photographer for Deutsche Bank, Financial Times Germany and Bloomberg – just to name a few. Since 2007 Alex Kraus is chief for photography for the “Frankfurter Rundschau” a well-known supranational newspaper in Germany. His images are quite convincing because of its dynamic and unconventional picture language.

Since 2005 Alex Kraus is represented exclusively by vario images.
Knut Mueller – reportage and art Beside of the publications of his work in the Figaro and the Los Angeles Times, Knut Mueller has taken pictures for Stern, Spiegel and many more prestigious magazines. Since 1989 he is regularly abroad in war zones and conflict areas like Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kosovo, Iraq, Somalia – just to name a few countries. But there exists also a reverse side of Knut Mueller. He studied not only art and design, he is as well a successful photographer for high art-images, which has been proven by many exhibitions not only in Germany.

Knut Muellers images of the last years are distributed exclusively by vario images.
Ulrich Baumgarten – photo journalism in a class of its own More than 40.000 digital images and several then thousands images more in the analog archive speak for themselves: Since 1975 the name “Uli” Baumgarten stands for ambitious photo journalism. Many of his pictures witness in a brilliant way the contemporary history of the last decades. For example, he has shot photos of the daily life in the early 1980s of the German Democratic Republic. Furthermore, he brought a lot of images from his journeys to Israel, South Africa, Turkey, North Korea and Iraq. By the way, he started his career as a sports photographer. The topics of his work are still politics and economy. On the other hand he is as well addicted to social topics, new technologies and symbol photography.
Ulrich Baumgarten is represented exclusively by vario images.
