A new educational resource launches today, which aims to unravel the complexities and expose the potential legal pitfalls of image use.Stockphotorights.com has been set up by Getty Images, Inc. for the good of the photographic industry. The site is designed to represent image providers and has the support of BAPLA (British Association of Picture Libraries and Agencies) and PACA (Picture Archive Council of America). The resource provides image users with information and advice they need to license images with confidence, by connecting them with key stakeholders from the industry.

NEW YORK, May 17 /PRNewswire/ — Shutterstock announced today that it is a founding partner in Stockphotorights.com, an educational resource for image buyers backed by several major stock photo agencies.

Stockphotorights.com was created to educate image buyers regarding the legalities of image usage and to provide information and advice on how to license images with confidence. The site, which launched today, was created in response to a survey of image users that showed many gaps in legal understanding of picture licensing. Artists to Ask Administration to Protect Copyright

Jury Slams China Lucky Film with $3 Million Verdict

On March 27, 2009 a California jury found China Lucky liable for negligent misrepresentation, breach of warranty and breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing arising out of its business dealings with Royal Marketing, a Los Angeles based photo-imaging distribution company with worldwide distribution. Royal Marketing filed its lawsuit in early 2007 (Superior Court Of The State Of California, Case No. PC040277), before the public announcement that Eastman Kodak Co., would sell its stake in Lucky Film to Guangzhou Chengxin Venture Capital Ltd.
