Portrait Photographer’s Work Featured on ABC’s Hit Show, ‘Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’

DURHAM, N.C., Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ — Inspirational and tender images photographed by renowned portrait artist Tamara Lackey for the January 31, 2010 airing of ABC’s Emmy award-winning show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” captured the depth of love, spirit, and hope evidenced by a Lexington, North Carolina’s family in the midst of their financial struggles, decaying home, and the mother’s stage 4 cancer.
Over fifty images photographed by Tamara, featuring the couple and their three children, were displayed around the newly-built home to offer solace and memories of happy moments shared by the beloved middle school teacher and her close-knit family. Tamara said, “It was truly an honor to be selected to meet and photograph this inspiring family. Everyone on the show worked so hard to pull this off; it was really impressive.”
Tamara specializes in portrait photography and the hit show, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” seen by 13 million viewers weekly, contacted Tamara last fall after working with her previously on another episode. Producers sought Tamara’s gift of finding the beauty and light in any situation. This time around, Tamara also worked with host Ty Pennington to create a striking wall display in the couple’s new master bedroom. Other special guests on the show included singer/songwriter Jewel and Oscar award-winning Reese Witherspoon.
Tamara has a passion for teaching and photography. Featured repeatedly in top industry publications, her work has appeared in Vogue, O Magazine, Town & Country, Martha Stewart Living, and Parenting Magazine, and has also been showcased on NBC’s “The Martha Stewart Show.” A panel judge for the WPPI International Print Competition, Tamara is also the author of The Midwest Book Review’s 5-star pick for photography libraries, “The Art of Children’s Portrait Photography.” Tamara’s instructional DVD, “Inside Contemporary Children’s Photography” recently debuted to much critical acclaim.
“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” is one of several family and child-based charitable organizations that Tamara Lackey Photography supports. All author proceeds from the sale of “The Art of Children’s Portrait Photography” are donated to Save the Children and the Worldwide Orphans Foundation.
