Fotopedia Offers and Elegant Sharing Network for the Photo Community

Intended by Jean-Marie Hullot to be a “Wikipedia of photos,” Fotopedia, is a user-friendly network that works within its own eco-system for photo storage and and sharing.
I recently tried it out and was pleased with the results. Uploading my images from Flickr was seamless and searching yielded desired results without having to sort through irrelevant images.

The quality of images is top-notch and its use of Creative Commons images is brilliant. I think Fotopedia should become the go-to source for bloggers and small websites for their visual content.
Fotopedia will be an important player in how images will be used and distributed for “Web 2.0.” I look forward to using them and watching them grow. Together with Creative Commons, they’re keenly aware of how the landscape of image use is changing and is part of the conversation of what the changes should be and how they should be implemented.

It also has a stand-alone application that can be downloaded, so it doesn’t force the user to upload their images into their system.

I highly recommend using Fotopedia for finding great images.
